March Newsletter
Hello Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the new website. The old website is working, but I have decided to update a new website because the educational tools will end in August. My new website is still a work in process.
General Information:
We are entering the 4th quarter of the year. Students have had opportunities to participate in Future City, KYA, KUNA, Book Club, Science & Engineering Fair, Doodle for Google, and so much more. There are still a few TAG projects in the works, Stock Market Game, Independent Studies, and Service Learning.
I know this year has been a little busier than the last two because we have returned to school full time. I am creating a calendar of activities to share in the July newsletter. I am also working with 6th & 7th graders to think about programming for next year.
8th graders met with high school TAG teachers and students in February to start thinking about what does TAG looks like in High School. Here is a way for students to think about how to schedule for High School. Schedule Builder.
I will be adding a recognition page for our students. We have won many different awards this year, and I would love for students to be recognized for their achievements. Be on the lookout for that page on the new website.
Tips for Parents
This month's article is Connect with your Teenage Gifted Child by Christine Cheesman, Ed.D.
Scholarship and Summer Camps:
Applications for both SCATs and VAMPY are open.
Please let me know how I can help.
We will be having Summer Enrichment Camps provided by Shelby County Public Schools. Please be on the lookout for those.
The Y also has a Leadership Training Conference (LTC) held from June 11-14. If your child is interested in growing as a leader, this would be a great program. Also, suppose your child is interested in running as a candidate in KYA or KUNA. In that case, this is also a great way to learn more about Y programming.
