April Newsletter

Hello Parents and Guardians,

General Information:

We are beginning to wrap up the school year. We just completed the Stock Market Game, and we had a team finish #28 out of 125 teams.

I have recently collected information from students on what they would like to complete as a TAG project next year. I am still missing about 1/3 of my 6th and 7th graders' thoughts. I sent an email to all of the 6th and 7th grade TAG students to get their opinions. I am hoping by Friday to close the survey and really start planning for next year. If you have something you would like to see as a project, send me an email. I have enough student interest to plan it out, but I would love to hear new ideas.

I will be adding a recognition page for our students. We have won many different awards this year, and I would love for students to be recognized for their achievements. Be on the lookout for that page on the new website.

Tips for Parents

This month's article is "'Is my kid gifted?': Four common (but misunderstood) traits of highly advanced learners" by Katy Bowman.

Scholarship and Summer Camps:

Applications for both SCATs and VAMPY are open.

Please let me know how I can help.

We will be having Summer Enrichment Camps provided by Shelby County Public Schools. Please be on the lookout for those.

The Y also has a Leadership Training Conference (LTC) held from June 11-14. If your child is interested in growing as a leader, this would be a great program. Also, suppose your child is interested in running as a candidate in KYA or KUNA. In that case, this is also a great way to learn more about Y programming.

If you have any advice or opinions, please let me know.
